In 2023, the Chalk River (CRL) and Whiteshell (WL) Laboratories continued re-certification to the ISO 14001 Standard for Environmental Management Systems, recognized internationally as key to guiding organizations to environmental responsibility and continual improvement. This commitment to environmental protection and continual enhancement of environmental performance is clearly evident in the 18 years of ISO 14001 registration at the Chalk River Laboratories, and 12 years at the Whiteshell Laboratories.

Overall, CNL’s environmental performance has been steadily improving in recent years. We post the detailed evidence, here, publicly, to demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship, and to help secure Canadians’ acceptance for the continued exploration of nuclear science and technology.

CNL Sustainability Report – 2024

As Canada’s National Nuclear Laboratory, we strive to ensure that sustainability is integrated into all the work we do and all the decisions we make.

We are pleased to share with you the CNL Sustainability Strategy for the fiscal year 2023-24 entitled Catalyzing a Better Tomorrow, Today.
