The following information bulletin is in accordance with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL) ongoing commitment to voluntary public disclosure of events related to the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL).
On May 31, 2020, an expected shipment of controlled materials was received at the Chalk River site.
Following receipt, it was identified that while the material was well within the quantities of the import license, the import license had not been appropriately updated in one case to reflect the specifics of the shipment.
CNL advised the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission of the event.
Corrective actions to prevent a reoccurrence of this shipping and receiving error will be implemented by CNL, thereby ensuring appropriate documentation in future instances.
CNL confirms that there is no threat to workers, the public, the environment or nuclear safety related to this event.
