Water quality issue at Chalk River Laboratories resolved

The following information bulletin is in accordance with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ (CNL) ongoing commitment to voluntary public disclosure of events related to the Chalk River Laboratories site.

Chalk River, ON – June 25, 2024 – As an update to the Community Bulletin issued on June 20, 2024, CNL can now confirm that water quality tests at the Chalk River Laboratories have yielded normal results that satisfy all public health requirements. With the presence of E. coli no longer detected, and following extensive measures to further disinfect and flush the water supply system, CNL has now removed all water restrictions across the Chalk River campus.

As a reminder, ongoing testing by the Town of Deep River confirms that the community’s municipal drinking water remains safe.

This issue was in no way related to radiological contamination, and has had no impact on the public or the environment.
